Getting Your Floor Nice and Shiny

Wishing you could say bye-bye to your dull floors? Well that’s what many are trying to achieve for themselves. Particularly those with wooden floors to their homes- the monsoon can be very tolling because this is when the floors turn dull and all the moisture doesn’t help at all. Add to that there are muddy boots and pets to make things worse! So the question is how do you make your floor look shinier and without spending tons of money on tins of chemicals and polishes.

Prevent water and moisture

The last thing you can do to your floor this monsoon is spill water and carry mud & water on your boots to trample all over the floor. No amount of polishing or treatment is going to help you keep your floor look good if you continue to add water and moisture. So make it a point that none violates the cardinal rule of keeping their feet dry when stepping on your wooden floor. You can assist them by placing mats and soak clothes on the door front to remind them of what you are trying to achieve and also help them with the occasional swipe if they happen to be deluged by surprise downpours.

Picking a coating agent – your choices

When it comes to choosing a coating agent there are primarily two choices for you to pick from. One is water based and the other is oil based. Waterborne Polyurethane doesn’t smell and are usually transparent. Under the ideal condition you can put brush to the floor with the Waterborne Polyurethane and by the time your day ends you will have applied four coats and be done with it.
